This is medley performance of Tamil and Malayalam Songs by Job and as usual unique and in his own style.I had never paid attention to "Raasathi" song though i had watched Thiruda Thiruda and Hindi Version "Chor Chor" of the soundtrack doesnt have this song.Had Never heard of "Nilaponkal Ayelo.." song before hearing this performance.Now they happen to be favourite songs as they definitely are awsome compositions.
The Tamil song is "Raasaathi" from Maniratnam's Thiruda Thiruda[1993] composed by A.R.Rahman Sung by Shahul Hameedh.The Lyricis is by Vairamuthu.Have to say the original singer has an awsome voice as it can be noticed that the song doesnt have heavy instrumental background.
The Malayalam song "Nilaponkal Ayelo.." is a female solo by Malgudi Subha from a movie called Thenmavin Kombathu[1994] directed by Priyadarshan.The score was composed by S. P. Venkatesh, with Berny-Ignatius doing the musical songs whose lyrics were written by Gireesh Puthenchery.Music directors Berny-Ignatius bagged the Kerala State Film Award for best music. R.D. Burman was initially signed in as the music director for the film, as revealed by RD himself in an interview to journalists in Cochin, during his visit to the city, just a few weeks before his death. But he died before he could complete the compositions of the film, and was later replaced.
